Department of Computer Applications


About Us

The department has been offering postgraduate course in Computer Application (MCA) since 2000.With the introduction of the program, the Institute extends its long years of expertise into the field of Computer Applications. The department provides well furnished laboratories and updated systems and an energetic staff who empower the students to take up real time projects in application, software solutions designing and data management. The Department also provides advanced simulation laboratory, VLSI Laboratory, research labs for Phd students , Lab for network and data security , MATLAB tools for image processing. The post graduate degree is specializing its students in business applications and software development thus fulfilling its pledge to the IT industry. Within a very short span of time, the department has created an excellent learning environment with dedicated young faculty members, technical staff, 'state-of-the-art' laboratories and innovative academic processes. The department also offering M. Tech in Software Engineering and Ph. D programmes since 2011 and having adequate number of research publications in International Conferences and Journals. The students of both the MCA and M. Tech courses are well placed in different renowned organizations.
The department provides computational facilities for application development and research. Full-fledged FPGA implementation and development facilities linked with embedded system tool and MATLAB provides a smooth platform for ambitious developers. For application level developers, complete enterprise level suites such as J2EE and Microsoft.net platform (along with visual studio.net) are available. For research, the department provides advanced simulation platform for software engineering, networking systems, network/data security and operating systems. MATLAB with toolboxes for image processing, communication, signal processing neural network & ORACLE are available for DBMS modelling and experimentation.

Facilities


1. Classrooms:
The Department has spacious classrooms with warm and relaxing interiors and comfortable seating. It is fully equipped with all the latest audio-visual equipments.
2. Laboratories:
Computer Applications department provide seperate laboratories for every subject.So that students can enhance their desired skills.Following are the laboratories and corresponding facilities,which we provide :
a) General Programming Laboratory:
The department provides computer labs having sufficient numbers of systems with latest configuration installed and dedicated Interest connectivity through WLAN and LAN
b) Advance Software Engineering Laboratory:
The department has Software Engineering Lab equipped with CASE tools to support the program and work on them.Students are taught a programming method based on the recognition and description of useful abstractions. Topics include modularity, specification, data abstraction, object modeling, design patterns, and testing. Students complete several programming projects of varying size, working individually and in groups.
c) Advance Operating System Laboratory:
Advanced Operating system lab with latest LINUX based Operating Sysytems as well as Windows operating systems to work,on has been provided.
d) Mobile Computing Laboratory:
Advanced Mobile computing laboratory for gaining better knowledge about various network models. Development of various application softwares is done to understand the conncepts of mobile computing. Network application softwares development done through Socket programming using high level languages such as java, python, android and C. Testing of developed Softwares done in Android based smart phones,Laptops,Raspberry Pi and Bannana Pi.
e) Advance Microprocessor and VLSI Laboratory:
Advance Microprocessor Lab equipped with microprocessor kits and interfacing devices enable students to achieve programming a microprocessor using assembly language.
3. Library:
Library has rich and active collection of textbooks and reference books and all its functions and operations are through dedicated network of computer system through the library software.
4. Hostel:
Both the male and female students of the department are accommodated in the well furnished hostels inside the campus.
