The Library as one of the important central facilities of the Institute supports the study, teaching, research and development programmes of the Institute. It is housed in a separate building having three floors on a plinth area of 1000 Sq. metres. The library has a collection of 1.7 lakh volumes of books which includes Text Books, Reference Books & Bound volumes of Journals, Standards etc. The Library subscribes to about 120 current Journals. Library operations have been automated with the help of an integrated library software package, LIBSYS-4. The book database is accessible through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). Circulation Services are executed through Barcode System (Scanning). It has a good collection of Electronic resources in its Digital Library. It is an open-access library and remains open from 8:30 A.M. to 12:00 Midnight on weekdays and from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on weekends. The library has introduced Wi-Fi Internet facility inside it to facilitate free-flow of information to the users.
The library has a well-equipped Xerox facility. The users can avail this facility on payment of a nominal charge. It has also some Audio-Visual equipment like Colour TVs, VCPs, Video-Camera, Projectors, and Multimedia Projectors etc. It has also a good IT infrastructure.
The library is an institutional member of DELNET (Developing Library Network), American Centre Library, Kolkata, NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), and Current Science Association, Bangalore. It is also a beneficiary Member of eSodh Sindhu (eSS) initially known as INDEST-AICTE (Indian National Digital Library in Engineering, Science & Technology) Consortium, which provides Desktop Access to high-quality e-resources (online journals & databases) Springer Link 1700 collection, Nature Magazine, ACM journals, ASCE, ASME, AIP, APS, JCCC. JStore etc. Library is also a member of National Digital Library of India (NDLI) which provides content access of some leading publishers’ books to the members. It has a good collection of Learning Resources. It has also a collection of several thousand E-Books on Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering etc. published by leading publishers such as Elsevier, Springer, CRC Press (T&F) and Oxford University Press available through Institute website.
Library: To supports the study, teaching, research and development programmes of the Institute and to feed the need of learning and information resources of the faculty members and students library was established in 1960. Presently Library has Five (05) professional staffs and Nine (09) other staffs to support the library household activities and to the users' services.
Subject Coverage: Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy & Material Engineering, Humanities & Social Sciences, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Management Studies etc.
Library Services: Circulation - Automated Circulation through Barcode Technology (Scanning), Inter Library Loan (ILL) facility available with DELNET and other pioneer Institutes. Library provides reprography services to its member’s on-demand. All faculty members, students (UG, PG, Research Scholars, and staffs) are a member of the library.
User awareness & Orientation Programmes: Central Library conducts orientation programmes, user awareness programmes such as Author Workshop (for faculty members & Research Scholars), Gate Training (B. Tech Students) etc. on regular intervals for its user community.
Learning Resources: Library subscribes 21 publishers’ online journals and databases of which consist of 4000+ online journals and have 16400+ e-books. In its print collection library has more than 1.7 Lakh books and 120 national and International print journals. It has also subscribed archive journals of Elsevier, Emerald, and Royal Society of Chemistry from Volume 1, Issue 1.
Library Holdings (Learning Resources): Central Library has around 1.7 lakh volumes of print resources which include Text Books, Reference Books & Bound volumes of Journals, Standards etc. It has also a good collection of online resources comprising E-Books, E-Journals, Databases, Standards, Video Cassettes, and CDs etc.
Archives: Archival facilities of Print and Online journals are available. It has more than 7000 bound volumes and Online archive journals of Elsevier, Emerald, and Royal Society of Chemistry from Volume 1, Issue 1.
Accessibility: Online learning resources are accessible throughout the campus on intranet (LAN) and print resources are open access in the Central Library. Availability of the resources can be check through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).
Future Plan: Strives to be a world-class library with the latest library technology such as RFID enabled library & information Kiosk, digital display etc.
