MEET OUR DIRECTOR

Prof Arvind Choubey is presently Director of National Institute of Technology Durgapur and Professor (HAG) in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur. He was Ex-Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhagalpur from 26th April 2019 to 25th July 2023.

He was also the Dean (Faculty Welfare) and Member Senate of NIT Jamshedpur. Being the mentor Institute, he was the Coordinator of IIIT Ranchi. Prof. Choubey was Executive Committee Member of AICTE, New Delhi and presently BOG member of IIIT Allahabad. He also honored the Head of the ECE department during 2000 - 2005 and 2011 -2013 at NIT Jamshedpur He is a Fellow member of Institute of Engineers, Member of IEEE; Life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and was also Secretary cum Treasurer for Jharkhand & Bihar of Indian Society for Technical Education. He was the Member of Program Committee of various International Conferences. He was awarded Dr Syamaprasad Mookerjee National Eminent Academician award by Chankya Foundation in 2019. His name is published in “Who’s Who in the World” publication in November 2009, U.S.A. Prof. Choubey was the Chairman for the two Sessions “IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence” in 2008, Hong Kong. He was the Keynote speaker and Chair the session of the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Computational Intelligence & Communication Technology in 2017, Bangkok. He visited and presented research papers in France, Switzerland, Italy, UK, Hongkong & Bangkok. He represented his Institute team DRIEFT, Project Formulae SAE from September 1-7, 2012 in Japan. He has more than 38 years’ experience in teaching and research. His present research interests are Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communication, Antenna Design & Soft Computing. He has supervised 07 nos. of PhD scholar and more than 25 M. Tech dissertations. He has applied 04 patents in year 2020 and now under examination. He has published 02 books & 09 book chapters and more than 70 nos. of research papers in International Journals and Conferences. He was the Expert Member of various Interview Boards such as UPSC, New Delhi, Public Service Commission, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand for faculty recruitment. He has developed AI based COVID 19 detection software during COVID-19 pandemic which was approved by ICMR, New Delhi.Further, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has taken the cognizance of the software and is in process for integration with Sanjeevani Application. Prof. Choubey has also developed Artificial Intelligence Module for Detection of Pest and Diseases of Major Crops of Bihar and received a consultancy project of an amount of Rs. 75.02 Lacs from Bihar Agriculture University, Bhagalpur. It is first time developed in world.
