About Us

The Department was started in early 1960’s as Department of Geology and later renamed as Department of Earth and Environmental Studies in 2012 because of spread of activities of the department on environment issues, mainly in research and teaching.

The Department is the coordinating department for multidisciplinary M.Tech. Programme in “Environmental Science and Technology” from the academic session 2009-2010, presently involving four departments of the Institute.

The Department is supporting the UG courses of the Institute offering a compulsory subject to all First year students on environment.
