About:
Dr. Hemanta Kumar Mondal is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at the National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NIT Durgapur). Prior to joining NIT Durgapur, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of ECE at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIIT Guwahati). He was also associated with the CNRS Lab-STICC at UBS University, France, as a Postdoctoral Researcher.
He received his Ph.D. from the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT Delhi) in 2017. During his research career, he gained industrial and international research experience through internships at Freescale Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd., India, and as a Visiting Researcher at STMicroelectronics, India.
Dr. Mondal's research contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards and distinctions, including the IEEE TCVLSI Best Paper Award at iNIS 2017, the Faculty Fellowship Award at VLSID 2019, and a runner-up position in the VLSID 2017 Design Contest. He has also received multiple student travel grants and presented his work at leading international forums, including DATE, VLSID, VDAT, and SOCC.
His research has been published in reputed journals and conferences such as IEEE Transactions on Multi-Scale Computing Systems, IEEE Transactions on Sustainable Computing, ACM Journal on Emerging Technologies in Computing Systems, Journal of Supercomputing, Sustainable Computing (Elsevier), DATE, NOCS, ISCAS, MWSCAS, SOCC, ISVLSI, VLSID, and others.
Dr. Mondal actively contributes to the academic community through professional service and leadership roles. He served as the Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch at IIIT Delhi from 2014 to 2016 and has delivered tutorials at premier conferences including VLSID 2017 and VDAT 2016. His research interests include VLSI design, embedded systems, hardware security, edge-AI systems, and sustainable computing.
