Professor Chattopadhyay has been investigating light signal-controlled plant growth and development using Arabidopsis and tomato plants. His group has cloned and functionally characterized several novel transcription factors (ZBFs) and regulatory proteins (SHW1 and EHY1) that play important roles in Arabidopsis seedling development (Yadav et al., 2005; Mallappa et al., 2006; Bhatia et al., 2008; Kushwaha et al., 2008; Gangappa et al., 2010; Singh et al., 2012; Abbas et al., 2014; Sethi et al., 2014; Maurya et al., 2015). His group has cloned and generated transgenic tomato plants over- or under-expressing ZBF1/MYC2 transcription factor (US patent # US 7,674,957 B2). Presently, Professor Chattopadhyay’s laboratory has been investigating the mechanism of action of ZBFs among themselves and with other regulatory proteins in light signaling pathways. | |
